Bio:
Sarah Frencham is a director, dramaturg, theatre maker, collaborator, performer, and teacher.
Since completing a Bachelor of Music Theatre in 2019, Sarah has gone on to work broadly across the independent theatre scene, with a focus on developing new works and supporting the development of Australian voices.
After touring nationally with children’s theatre company Alpha Shows as Ariel in The Little Mermaid, Sarah worked as writer and collaborator on multiple revues and cabarets, including Mixed Bag Revue and A Manic Pixie Dream Cabaret. In 2024, Sarah was a part of Theatre Works’ Early Career Artist Program and appeared on stage in The Volition Experiment – which they also devised.
Their directing and dramaturgy work has toured internationally and spans audio-plays, musicals, gig-theatre, plays, cabaret and development workshops.
Recent directing credits include The Dam, The Silent War, [Title of Show], Voyagers (assistant director), Ghosts (assistant director), The Proposal, A Lovely Day to Be Online (associate director/co-dramaturg), Underwire (director/dramaturg), and Galah Galah (director/dramaturg).
Workshops and developments include: Send Nudes (workshop development) and Good Man (co-director, co-dramaturg).
Sarah’s work has toured internationally to Melbourne, New Zealand, Adelaide and Edinburgh Fringe Festivals, to multiple 5 star reviews and most recently their work on Underwire won Best of Cabaret weekly award at Adelaide Fringe 2025.
Sarah has worked as an acting and music theatre teach at companies across Melbourne and Dubai.
As an emerging, queer, Autistic theatre maker, Sarah is passionate about supporting and developing exciting new stories.
